Dear Choir Parents, We hope the new school year is off to good start. We want to welcome you to an exciting new year of Choir— singing, dancing, performances, activities and a lot of fun. The Choir Booster Executive Board has been working hard this summer to ensure a successful year for our talented students. This email is the first of the weekly choir emails to let our families know what is happening week to week. Communication is key to ensure all of our choir families feel informed and comfortable to ask questions. Please feel free to contact any of the Executive Board or any veteran choir parents if you have questions. Here is what you may want to know this week:
CHOIR BOOSTER MEETING 9/16— All choir families are invited to the September Booster Welcome meeting on Monday 9/16 at the Thompkins Center for a wine and cheese reception, a performance by our students and an informational meeting. New families are invited at 6:15pm, and all families are invited at 7:00pm. Please join us. MENTORS FOR NEW FAMILIES— New families to choir will have a mentor assigned in the next two weeks. Mentors will be contacting you to answer any questions, share different ways you can get involved and share strategies for navigating this energetic program. Stay tuned! COUPON BOOKS FUNDRAISER— For our next fundraiser, we will again be partnering with the South Gridiron boosters to sell the GP Coupon Books for $25 each (no more or less). Each choir student is expected to sell 10 books by the end of October. Your student will be given his or her books on 9/16. Students can start to presell their books to family and friends but cannot use social media to sell the books until after the 16th. We are attaching a draft letter that can help your student pre sell. JOIN THE BOOSTERS— Please join the Choir Boosters at the level you feel comfortable. There will be GP Trolley Crawl on Saturday 9/21for all booster members, so become a booster soon and join us for this fun event. (The trolley crawl is $20 for members or free if you join at the Applause level or above!) If interested please contact Chris. We are also looking for 2 or 3 parents to organize feeding our students meals during tech weeks (ie the few evenings before Fall Follies, Sounds of the Season and Broadway). We have a budget and a list of food served in past years to make this easy. The students really appreciate having grab and go food available during long rehearsals. Contact Katherine or me at the below email if willing to help. Thank you to our new House Managers Angie Niforos and Beth Walsh-Sahutske and our new concessions chair Amy Stencil. Thank you also to our DVD coordinator, Dean Niforos and our Flower sales coordinator Elizabeth Christenidis. Our performances will be better for our families and patrons because of your efforts! THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT RECAP— Thank you again to all of you who volunteered to help in any way to make That’s Entertainment 2019 a huge success. Special thanks again to our committee chairs Sue Fox and Sandy Srowdowa for their great work organizing the workshop. CAR WASH RECAP— Thank you to all our students and our Car Wash coordinators Tony Yonkus and Bob Haran for a very successful Car Wash. Our fundraising requirements for the year are off to a good start. And if you attended the car wash you know the kids were having a lot of fun. Thanks to all who helped make the event a success! We wish every student a great first week and successful school year. Thank you for supporting your student’s choir program. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. With Warmest Regards, Laura Sanom-Fleming and Katherine Brandon 2019-20 Choir Booster Presidents president@gpsouthchoir.org Comments are closed.
