9/9/19: Week #2 Update

4/22/2020

Dear Choir Parents, We hope your first week back to school was a good one. Please read below to become a booster and volunteer where you can. South show choir can only exist if this organization makes tens of thousands of dollars per year to support it. We need everyone to give a little. Also, Fall Follies is early this year (October 11 and 12), so choreographer Andy Haines is in town this week for rehearsals both during class and after school. Here is what you may want to know this week:

CHOIR BOOSTER MEETING 9/16— Chris Pratt will lead a short performance by our students and speak at our September Booster Welcome meeting on Monday 9/16 at the Thompkins Center. New families are invited at 6:15pm, all families at 7:00. Pick up your Choir lawn sign, learn important information for the year and meet other choir families.

COUPON BOOKS FUNDRAISER— Each choir student is expected to sell 10 GP Coupon books by the end of October. Your student will be given his or her books on 9/16. Students can start to presell their books to family and friends but cannot use social media to sell the books until after the 16th. See the attachment to last week’s choir email for a draft email your student can send.

JOIN THE BOOSTERS— We need all our choir families to support our choirs by joining the Boosters. Those who join by September 21st are invited to our GP Trolley Crawl on Saturday 9/21. Please join us! (The trolley crawl is $20 for members or free if you join at the Applause level or above!) VOLUNTEER NEEDS— To raise the money necessary to support South Show Choir we need all of our choir families to join the boosters and volunteer their time and talents where they can. Please take a look at this semester’s sign up genius and sign up where your time and talent allows. Click here to volunteer: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c084faca7238-volunteer3 Two Volunteer immediate needs: Chris Pratt is still looking for a parent volunteer to work with him to keep the Choir booster website up to date. No computer skills other than drop and drag is necessary. If interested please contact Chris. We are also still looking for 2 or 3 parents to organize feeding our students grab-andgo meals during tech weeks (ie the few evenings before Fall Follies, Sounds of the Season and Broadway). We have a budget and a list of food served in past years to make this easy. The students really appreciate having food available during long rehearsals. Contact Katherine or me at the below email if willing to help.

VOLUNTEERS OF THE WEEK— Thank you to Amy Steinhauser for her work creating our performance programs. It is a lot of work putting all of that information into a professional looking program. Thank you Amy for your hard work! Thank you too to Dana Constandt for her great work leading the Choir Hair Force. Dana ensures our Choir women have the make up, hair pieces and other essentials to ensure their awardwinning presentation on stage.

THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT DVD’s Orders Due— Orders are due this week. If you would like to order a That’s Entertainment DVD, please get your order form in this week to Dean Niforos. An order form is attached for your convenience.

FALL FOLLIES REHEARSAL SCHEDULE WITH ANDY HAINES THIS WEEK— Monday 9/9- All Choirs 3:15pm- 6:15pm; Tuesday 9/10- Pointe Singers 3:15pm6:15pm; Wednesday 9/11- Tower Belles 3:15pm-6:15pm; Thursday 9/12- Tower Belles 3:15pm-4:30pm, Pointe Singers 4:55pm- 6:15pm.

Thank you for supporting your student’s Choir program. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. With Warmest Regards, Laura Sanom-Fleming and Katherine Brandon 2019-20 Choir Booster Presidents president@gpsouthchoir.org
